Just because I feel like it... In no particular order:
- Sopranos
- Game of Thrones
- True Detective
- The Wire
- Breaking Bad
I find these five to be a few level above anything else on TV so far. I truly believe that there isn't anyone who will watch one of these series (even if he doesn't like the genre) and won't come out satisfied and impressed at the end.
I also can't really say which of these are the best. They are all good in their own way and I think that it comes down to subjective view. It's impossible to deny though that quality-wise, these five are on top of the pyramid.
